There are some things that need updating, and the work order in building a real application will not really be like this, but it is built this way on purpose to simplify the concepts and the work order.
Max’s and Manu explanations are wonderful and the refeshares are great and there is the source code in case you get stuck.
It cleared my mind.
Recommended for beginner developers. Worth every dollar

I am new to MERN, and this is the best MERN course that can make me understand how to integrate, hope can apply this foundation to my new project that use MERN stack.

Learned the basics of Full-Stack website and was able to produce my own product from this tutorial

The course is great overall. You learn how to combine the frontend, backend and the database to make a MERN app.
There are some parts which are dated and cause errors, but I managed to overcome these with the help of the people in Q&A and others by looking for solutions on stackoverflow.

Really good course, would be nice to have graphics on how code interacts with each peace of code.

This was a good course. I was planning on giving it 4-4.5 stars at first with the only downfall being there isn’t a testing section. As boring as testing is, it is an everyday part of a project and should be apart of a full project build. It would be nice to specifically have an RTL section and have some base tests for parts of the project (obviously we don’t need an entire fleshed out testing suite).
I decided to chip off a little more due to not updating either the hosting service or showing a workaround for the heroku storage persist issues. If Heroku was the choice for the project, it would make sense that the final form of the project would be working on the hosting site. It would be one thing if it were a trivial bug…but this is an app about sharing locations via must have pictures (amongst other things). Same with login verification…you have to attach photos yet they don’t persist.
However, outside of this, I think it is an excellent course.
Thank you.

Did I learn new concepts and retain them? Yes, but it was a frustrating experience based on the cons below. I feel like this course would of been ok three years ago. The back-end was disappointing, but my guess is that the instructor’s strongest area is in the front-end. I love and highly recommend Max’s front-end courses, but I will stay away from Node.js courses or any back-end courses from him with the exception of the Next.js course.
Pros: useful information, strong front-end part, application hosting, setting up env files, and concepts explained well.
Cons: Outdated course, poor planning, poor structure, frequent on the fly fixes, and bad back-end practices.

Generally I recommend this course because of the good material and didactic structure where every step is explained so you can also understand some background and not only the final code.
But be prepared. For me sometimes it was a torture to follow the explanations. Especially in the react part max sometimes uses the same word (component for example) 3 or 4 times in a sentence. But referring to different components. He does this to be precise and name the parent components of the component he is talking about at the moment. But it is confusing and unnecessary. When I watch the video I know which component he is talking about at the moment.

Very good course I would say. Max is very a knowledgeable teacher and I learnt a lot from him, and the same for Manuel. Now I am ready to build personal projects on MERN. The way Academind guides students is exceptional and I am glad that I did the courses of Max.
I would suggest anyone diving in MERN, if you are not clear on core concepts then don’t take this course rather take the dedicated course for each technology. I took Max’s all courses on MERN like REACT, NODE, MongoDB. After taking these three courses and diving deeper I took this MERN one.
One point, as of 2023 I would like to see a little update here and there like using new React Router, as for deployment Heroku is paid now, so another service would be great.

Good course, and I think It would be better if we can make the code cleaner by reducing the try catch in a safe way

It was a really good and compact course for MERN stack. It covers all the basics neede for such an app and not too much which is covered by individual courses. I really recommend all the courses by Maximilian, all of them are brilliant but I did not complete them yet.
